Tamara’s work symbolizes the process of healing after traumatic experiences in peoples’ lives’. If a fire occurs for instance, the building may be salvaged, cleaned and painted. The damage however is deep rooted in the wall. Recovery will take more than a covering with a slick of paint, which in time will crack where the most damage was done; resulting in uneven beautiful forms. Tamara has photographed the cracks formed on a wall recovering from a fire to create an abstract photomontage.
People spend the majority of their time ‘cracking’ where a wound re-surfaces and will have to deal with its source to heal. Metaphorically, In order to heal, a new ‘wall’ (way of thinking) will have to be built.
